Night Guard Care

Night Guard Care and Instructions

Wearing your new night guard

It is important that you wear your night guard as often as you can (we recommend at least 5 nights a week). A night guard is worn to protect your teeth and jaw from the forces of clenching and grinding at night. Such forces can cause your teeth to war and your jaw to become sore an can cause headaches. Wearing your new night guard will take some adjusting. It will feel big and bulky until you get used to waring it. It is best if your put the appliance in your mouth 20 minutes prior to going to bed. This will allow your mouth to get acclimated. You may need to come in get your night guard adjusted after a week or so. You should feel like you are hitting both sides as the same time.

Cleaning

Use a toothbrush and toothpaste daily to clean your night guard. It is best if the appliance is dry before closing the case. Bring your night guard with you when you get your teeth cleaned and we will professionally clean it for you.

Warning

If you have animals, they would love to make a chew toy out of your night guard. Keep it in a safe place your pets can not reach it.
